NASSAU, BAHAMAS December 18, 2025— As Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) moves into the peak holiday travel period, airport stakeholders have activated operational plans to manage one of the busiest travel windows of the year.
This Friday, December 19, and Saturday, December 20, are expected to be among the heaviest travel days of the season, with a projected 6,700 and 7,600 passengers respectively, arriving at LPIA. It is expected that passenger volumes will remain elevated through December 24 and will increase again just before the end of the year. This increased traffic places the airport’s facilities at or near full operational capacity and requires the close coordination and cooperation of all airport stakeholders to ensure the safe and efficient movement of passengers, baggage, and aircraft.
To manage the significant uptick in activity in and around the terminals, LPIA’s holiday operations plan is in effect, with all stakeholders increasing staffing levels in critical processing areas. Additional security support will be provided by Airport Authority between Friday, December 19 through Wednesday, December 24, when vehicular congestion is expected to be at its highest.
Members of the public are encouraged to plan ahead, arrive early for flights (three hours ahead of US-bound flights and two hours ahead of international and domestic flights), exercise patience, and follow all airport recommendations and traffic instructions. Persons picking up arriving guests are encouraged to use LPIA’s free cell phone waiting lot or paid parking facilities, particularly if they need to exit their vehicles, as high traffic volumes are expected in and around the terminals. In order to maintain traffic flow on the curbside, and to comply with global airport safety rules, unattended vehicles will be towed. During this period, parking lots may also be operating at or near full capacity and the public is encouraged to monitor LPIA’s website and social media channels for the latest operational updates.
As LPIA approaches 19 years since the start of the airport redevelopment process and with terminal facilities nearing 15 years of operation, the airport is now stretched to its operational limits. This period of sustained growth underscores the need for future expansion to support continued demand, enhance the passenger experience, and maintain operational efficiency. We want to thank our airport stakeholders and partners for continuing to support LPIA and its critical role in facilitating tourism and strengthening economic growth throughout the country.
As NAD begins its journey toward 20 years as airport operators, we do so with confidence in the experience, dedication, and professionalism of our team and our airport partners.
On behalf of the Board of Directors and Executive Team at NAD, together with our parent company, Vantage Group, we extend sincere thanks and best wishes for the holiday season to the more than 4,000 professionals whose commitment keeps LPIA operating safely and efficiently during this demanding season.
