Environmental, Social and Governance

Building a better future

We seek to be more than just an airport. Together with our partners, we strive to minimize our impacts on the environment, provide an inclusive and accessible experience for our guests, and support our community.

Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Lanyard Program

Providing support for guests.

At LPIA, we participate in the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program. This lanyard helps airport staff identify guests who may require extra assistance

If you or a loved one have a non-visible disability and need support while travelling, read our Frequently Asked Questions on our Accessibility page.

Accessibility Certification

Improving the airport for everyone.

LPIA is proud to be pursuing accessibility certification with the globally recognized Rick Hanson Foundation. This certification will help us better understand our current accessibility, including areas to improve. Read more about the certification here.

Guest Experience Accreditation

Exceeding expectations

In 2024, LPIA renewed its Airports Council International (ACI) Customer Experience Accreditation.

This accreditation recognizes our ongoing efforts to deliver outstanding service to meet the needs and expectations of our guests.

To meet the requirements, we undertook an extensive assessment of airport services, facilities, and overall guest satisfaction. Looking ahead, we will seek to further improve the guest experience by expanding amenities and focusing on accessibility, sustainability and guest convenience.

New Solar Power System

Building a path to sustainable energy solutions

LPIA is developing a new solar power system that will stabilize energy costs, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and set the stage for an energy shift on New Providence Island. The scalable project will introduce solar power in a phased approach at LPIA, with construction anticipated to begin in late 2025. When implemented, the project is expected to begin at 1 megawatt and could expand to as much as 3.4 megawatts.

Airport Carbon Policy

Reducing our impact on the environment

We are proud to have joined the Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) Programme through Airports Council International (ACI). As the only institutionally endorsed carbon management certification standard for airports, ACA allows us to implement best practice carbon management processes, promote green initiatives, and work towards our goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2050.
